THE GATES HOUSE
Nestled in a quiet corner in the beautiful estate of The Gates in Kwa Zulu Natal. My team and I were honoured to be involved in the full renovation of this newly acquired family home by old and cherished friends.
Walls were rearranged to make the home’s spaces more suitable for her new family to enjoy, as well as bringing in light and the already established Midland’s garden.
Through meticulous consideration, kitchen and all bathrooms were designed, with new spaces created. Bringing in light, was crucial in the design process, yet still allowing for the home to feel warm in the chilly winters when the fireplaces are lit. All joinery was designed by TFI.
The feeling of calm as you walk through the locally designed and manufactured Cape inspired gates, along the klompie path, passing two copper water features, designed by Sarah Cronin, which gently bubble away during the day. The vista through the front door all the way through to the beautifully established garden overlooking Hilton College Estate, brings a sense of belonging and “home” to her visitors.
Our own lighting range is used throughout the home, creating timeless beauty, and character. (Rocco pendant – dining room, The new Duchess pendant – foyer, Lucca wall sconces – Tv room nook, Ling wall sconces – Guest WC, Lisa Brass wall sconces – little girl’s bedroom, and the Double Lisa wall sconce in the shared bathroom).
Over the next few years, this beautiful forever family home will have her layers added on. She really is a beauty, and we are extremely proud to have been a part of her transformation.
